Itazura na Kiss 2: Love in Tokyo Episode 4 Recap

Matsumoto Yuko exits the graduation hall to see Naoki and Kotoko. Yuko is congratulated by the two and in turn talks about Kotoko transferring to nursing. Yuko assumes it was because of Naoki. Kotoko tries to deny it but Naoki chimes in agreeing. Having now heard that Kotoko has passed the nursing exam, Yuko is worried for Kotoko's future patients... so is Naoki. But she still congratulates her.

Satomi and Jinko are weeping not far from the three. Kotoko reveals that the two aren't graduating this year. Satomi had not followed the strict attendance rules and Jinko had turned in her brother's homework instead of her's by mistake. Naoki reminds Kotoko not to act above her friends, in reality she would not have graduated this year as well.

As Sudo approaches with a large bouquet of roses, Yuko thanks Naoki for making her university life enjoyable and asks for Naoki to become a good doctor. Yuko extends a handshake to Kotoko, telling her she had fun, asking her not to trouble Naoki and hopes that Kotoko becomes a good wife.

Yuko coldly rejects Sudo's flowers as she has a party to attend. Sudo follows her like a puppy.

As Kotoko and Chris are walking by the river, Chris is feeling upset as Kin hasn't shown any feelings towards her. Kotoko tries to comfort her but Chris has to return to England soon.

As a last effort, Kotoko organises a birthday party for Kin... although his birthday was three months ago. She convinces Kin it is a good idea.

Party attendees include: Kotoko, Satomi, Jinko, Chris and Kin.

The cake is brought out, Kin's expression becomes awkward as he finds out Chris had made the cake. Kin deters from complementing Chris' cake... He doesn't like sweet things. The table is now filled with savoury dishes. This time it is more to Kin's taste but once again feels uncomfortable knowing Chris made the food. Kin tries another dish to test the Chris' cooking, the one he tries is disgusting and he makes it clear... Kotoko was the one to have made the dish he tried.

Chris gifts Kin with a red sweater she knitted herself with the character "Kin" sewn on it. She made a matching one with "Kuri"on it (both the first character in their names).

As the girls are praise the sweater, Kin is silent. He suddenly slams his hands on the table, declaring that he only loves Kotoko. Telling Chris that he has no interest in her at all, that who would wear such a sweater, as a final blow he tells her to go back to England.

Chris leaves the party saying she will return to England. Kotoko slaps Kin, asking him if it really is okay for Chris to return; she is leaving next week. Kotoko upset, tells him that Chris was tortured about being separated from Kin and was trying her best to please him; although he may not have liked her, he shouldn't have been cruel. Kin is left speechless.

Kotoko, Satomi and Jinko are at the airport bidding Chris farewell. At the restaurant Kin drops a plate. Both Kotoko's father and another chef note that it must be because Chris isn't here. Kin realises that today is the day she leaves, he apologises before rushing off.

Kotoko tries to convince Chris to stay a little longer, confident that Kin will come. Chris feigns that she is okay, reminding Kotoko to tell Kin that she had fun because of him. Tears fall as Chris really wanted to see Kin one last time. She leaves for her plane.

As the girls watch Chris' plane take off, Kin arrives minutes late with the sweater on. Kin starts yelling Chris' name, Jinko tells her it's too late. Kin starts crying as he bangs on the window, asking why Chris didn't wait, he had even went home just to wear the ugly sweater. Confessing to having to come to like her a little.

We hear Chris' voice asking whether what he said is true, he replies yes before realising it was her voice. Chris had been on the plane but Kin popped into her head and she couldn't leave. Kin's attitude almost immediately changes, making the excuse that he had only worn the sweater so he could return it, asking for her not to misunderstand. Chris hugs him.

Back at home, Kotoko is overjoyed as she picks out an outfit for her date tomorrow with Naoki. As he had promised one if she were to pass her exam... We flashback to Kotoko begging for a date as motivation to pass the exam, she asks Naoki to take pity on his wife who has yet to go on a real date with him.

Naoki arrives at the bedroom, interrupting Kotoko as she says studying wasn't difficult to his mother... Kotoko tries to divert his attention to the schedule she has made for their date.

Kotoko has left early in the morning to set up the perfect date, day dreaming about the exact timing - arriving 5 minutes after the meeting time, what Naoki will say... Predicting that Naoki will come at 11:30am, 30 minutes early than the meeting time. It is 12:05pm and Naoki arrives, finding Kotoko before she can react.

Having prepared beforehand, Kotoko already purchased movie tickets for the romantic movie. Once again, daydreaming that Naoki will reach other to hold her hand during the movie as she rests her head on his shoulder... Reality - she falls asleep as she day dreams about Naoki reaching over to hold her hand. Naoki wakes her up as the movie has finished.

The next part of their date is to stroll through a park, Kotoko spots the swan boats and drags Naoki to ride one. As they are about to, Naoki runs off to buy drinks. As she waits for Naoki, Kotoko spots a mother and her child. Her son is crouching in pain. Kotoko runs over.

Naoki checks the child whilst instructing Kotoko to call an ambulance. At the hospital, the child is diagnosed as having Bronchial Asthma. Naoki reassures the mother that it is treatable as long as her son takes his medicine.

As the two continue their date, Kotoko complements Naoki on being so warm to the mother when he is usually cool minded. Kotoko notes that when Naoki becomes a doctor she believes that he can help many people. Naoki also wishes for Kotoko to become a good nurse. He also complements her on being a good nurse at the park.

Back at the park the swan boats are closed. The boss comes back to place a closed sign, he recognises the two from earlier, having saved the young boy. He lets them on one.

Kotoko says if the date were to go smoothly it would have been boring. Being with Naoki is enough for her, Naoki cracks a smile. He says there is a legend that couples who ride a boat in this park break up. Kotoko instinctively tries to get up and off the boat.

Naoki pulls her back down. Kotoko complains that he should have told her beforehand. He pulls her in for a kiss, reciting back to her everything she had planned for their date; kissing her in a boat, holding her hand in the cinema and arriving 30 minutes earlier to their date.

He honestly didn't want to follow her date schedule, but seeing how hard she worked on it he wanted to at least grant one wish. He asks what she wants to do now, since she is on the boat. He asks whether she really believes in the legend. They kiss again.
