Itazura na Kiss 2: Love in Tokyo Episode 7 Recap

Kotoko wonders her way to her father's restaurant just as Kin and Chris are closing up. Kotoko bursts into tears as Kin asks her what is wrong. The two serve her tea, Kotoko's father tries to convince Kotoko to come home but Kotoko doesn't want to. Chris offers her place and Kin offers his apartment for her to stay at. Kotoko's father sneaks off to give Naoki a call, informing him that Kotoko is staying at Chris'.

The next day, Naoki walks to University taking note of the couples on campus. Then we pan to Kotoko, arms spread across the cafeteria table only drinking water as she feels the aftermath of drinking last night.

Motoki has nothing but criticism for her, whilst the girls are sympathetic. Keita arrives to give her a hangover cure (those in the little glass bottles). Kin notices this and pulls Chris over to spy. Keita asks whether it is true she ran away from home, suggesting her to stay at his place. All the eyes on the table turn to Keita in astonishment.

Kotoko tries to brush it off as a joke but Keita once again confirms that he is serious (in liking Kotoko). Kin's instinct is to give Keita an ear full but he shakes it off, and heads off to find Naoki instead.

Keita: I'm interest in you and I can't take my eyes off (you).

Kotoko is frazzled saying she is with Naoki, Keita stands up raising his voice. He says that is why he asked her to divorce, did he chase after you? Did he get jealous of me? What has he done for you? A couple can't be together if they both don't need the other. You need me.

Naoki: You're wrong, you're totally wrong.

Keita confronts Naoki, saying he can never make her happy, that he didn't deserve to marry Kotoko.

Naoki: That might be the case.
Keita: It's not "might be the case", it IS the case!
Naoki: I was Jealous (Kotoko's eyes O.O), I was jealous of Kamogari (Keita's last name)
Keita: Huh?
Naoki: Up until now, being jealous or envying someone, sorrow or suffering, I've never felt these kinds of despicable emotions which humans normally possess (all this time he is heading towards Kotoko). But I've changed ever since I met Kotoko, those hidden feelings overflowed. Not knowing what to do, I felt lost and got annoyed... You don't need Kotoko, I'm the one that needs her, for me to be myself is only when Kotoko is by my side.

Kotoko asks whether that is really true. Naoki says that he didn't know (of jealousy) until recently after Kin taught him, complementing Kin as a admirable guy having gone through these feelings for 6 years. The two embrace after Naoki confirms to Kotoko once again that she can stay by his side.

The two are about to kiss until they hear everyone clapping... Keita leaves the cafeteria which Motoki notices.

Motoki comforts Keita, amounting this as a crush - Keita just wanting to save a pitiful looking person. Motoki adds he won't give on Naoki.

Noaki and Kotoko arrive home to Naoki's mother greeting the two with teary eyes. Kotoko confirms that there is no need to worry. Naoki has returned to his usual self asking Kotoko to stop being so clingy.

Naoki's mother wants all the details. Kotoko expresses her joy that Naoki had confessed his love for Kotoko infront of everyone. Kotoko re-enacts the confession. Naoki leaves after being embarrassed, his mother thanks Kotoko for having met Naoki; he has matured and is now able to understand people's feelings better. She asks for Kotoko to always stay by Naoki's side.

Back at University, the instructor is listing to Kotoko all the activities she can't do, reminding her of a re-test tomorrow. If she doesn't pass, she will have to repeat the year. The next morning Keita finds Kotoko crying in the practical room, having been practicing for 6 hours with no improvement.

Keita volunteers to be her test dummy, Kotoko is ready to take a swift jab. Keita a little frightened, reminds her to use the practice pad.

After repeatedly failing, Keita reminds Kotoko to relax and look at the needle. She tries again, succeeding. She asks for him to be her test dummy for moving a patient onto a wheelchair. Which she does successfully after focusing.

Keita asks Kotoko why she wanted to become a nurse. Although her main reason is Naoki she also wants to be able to be useful to someone and support discouraged patients. Seeing Kotoko talk so fondly of Naoki, he asks again whether she really likes him. Kotoko confirms.

Keita leaves but not before wishing her luck in the exams. Keita crosses Naoki, telling him that he will stop chasing Kotoko. Naoki the smart ass comments that Keita has finally realised the strength of the love Kotoko has for him, adding why Keita didn't realise this sooner before walking away.

Keita is aggrivated having been modest this whole conversation yet Naoki mocked him. In other news, Kotoko passed the re-test. Having passed and mentioning it to Kin, Kotoko's omurice has congratulations written with tomato sauce.

Motoki mentions that Kotoko can now go to the capping cermony. Kotoko has doesn't know what the event is. Motoki makes a dramatic explanation... It is a cermony where you receive a nurse's cap from the head of department for the first time, in addition to a candle ceremony and oath recital. The event also says that you should receive a flower from a boy you like from the medical department. Kotoko drifts into her imaginary world.

Marina frowns at the thought of receiving a flower from Seiichi, who timely is walking down the cafeteria stairs. Seiichi having seen Marina's glare runs in the opposite direction. Oh and that test where Naoki said he did worst than usual, he still came in first. Motoki boasts about Naoki being smart, he reaches over to touch Naoki, Kotoko slaps his hand down.

Marina starts waffling about Seiichi and his failing to get #1 and not being able to face her. Kotoko asks Naoki for a favour, to give her roses at the ceremony. Naoki is unable to because of a medical conference in Nagoya.

In class, everyone meets the head of the department, Hosoi Sayuri.

Marina mentions that her name is Hosoi (skinny) even though she is fat, she is known on campus to be very mean to nurses she doesn't like. Sayuri asks for Irie-san (Kotoko), she starts complementing Naoki for his brilliant-ness and good reputation. Adding that Kotoko must be as brilliant... Motoki speaks up to say yes.

Sayuri asks for 4 people to recite the oath at the ceremony. Motoki is first to volunteer, Sayuri takes a closer look, identifying Motoki as male, she states that is no good. At the university it had been decided that girls will recite the oath. Furthermore, male nurses don't receive caps; they get patches. You can see that Motoki's heart being torn apart into very small pieces. Motoki starts shedding tears as his dream of wearing a cap is crushed.

Marina, Tomoko, Kotoko and one other student are chosen for the oath recital.

Motoki is drinking and eating his sorrows away. Complaining about why Kotoko and Marina get to do the oath. Meanwhile, Kotoko is worrying about having to memorise the oath; having been given the last and longest section. Kotoko suddenly comes up with a brilliant idea which we don't hear but Motoki does.

ONE WEEK LATER

It is the ceremony, everyone is in attendance but Motoki. The students are called on stage one by one, presented with either their cap or patch.

Motoki is called on stage... he comes into the auditorium in a nurse's outfit. Sayuri starts panicking for Motoki to change clothes, she calls it blasphemy. Kotoko is still on stage with Motoki, she asks for Sayuri to forgive Motoki with a 90 degree bow. All the students pitch in to ask that Sayuri give Motoki a cap. Sayuri relents to everyone's request.

Motoki thanks Kotoko then exclaims his love for everyone.

It is now the oath portion of the ceremony. Kotoko's, Tomoko's and Marina's part of the oath go smoothly, Motoki also has a part in the oath.

Kotoko remains in the auditorium even after the ceremony, for the slight chance that Naoki will come. Kotoko notes to herself to remember this ceremony in order to give her strength when times are rough... suddenly we hear a door opening behind Kotoko, she instinctively hides. Her immediate thought is a ghost.

Naoki appears calling her an idiot. Kotoko asks about Nagoya, Naoki caught the Shinkansen (bullet train) although catching it he was still late, the florists were closed. Kotoko doesn't care for the flowers, she is just thankful he came. He asks for her to repeat her part of the oath.

The two kiss as we hear Kotoko's voiceover:
